This New Year’s Eve hit the Reset button

Hi friends and family,

as we bring 2013 to a close let’s reflect – remember the good and leave behind the moments we were not too crazy about and reset.

2013 has been a tough year for many, my family as well. But with 2014 comes new opportunity. I hope you’ll all continue to follow my stories. This next year will be a time of transition for my family as my older daughter goes off to college.

I will turn to my blogging to work through some issues, concerns and thoughts that I feel we may all appreciate together.

Please visit me over at Bittersweet one last time for 2013 and let me know you stopped by.

See you all in the new year. Sending you all lots and lots of love, friendship, health, security, prosperity, goodness and kindness always.

Helping Clara Kirk help others

Please help me raise funds for Clara Kirk to continue helping Chicago’s abused and homeless women and their children.

Dear friends and family,

This is the first time I have taken on a challenge like this one, but let me tell you, this is a challenge I am happy to take on.

I have committed to helping Clara Kirk, founder of Clara’s House and Clara’s Place in Chicago’s destitute Englewood neighborhood. She is the tiny 72-year-old woman you may have seen on the local news in October asking for help to turn the heat back on at her two shelters where dozens of abused and homeless children and their mothers have found refuge.

Though an anonymous donor has since come forward to pay the gas bill, she is still in need of funds to buy everything from toothpaste to bedding, towels, clothing. You name it, she said, anything that you have in your own house is what she needs.

On our worst day, these women and children have it…

Mario Casciaro gets 26 years in prison

I’ve been following this case for the Chicago Tribune, for many years, years before Brian Carrick’s mom, Terry, died and was able to see an arrest in the death and disappearance of her 17-year-old son. Lawyers are planning an appeal for Mario Casciaro, who also was just a young man when Carrick disappeared from his family’s grocery store.  The end all result of this senseless tragedy is that two families are in pain because of the actions of children, teenagers, kids really by all definition, who acted without thought for their actions. These are not bad people, but people who got caught up in bad behaviors. Please read story currently online at the Chicago Tribune. There will be updates throughout the day. Until next time …..

Please share in the true Chicago story of Clara’s heart

Hi friends and family,

Please click on the link below. I am sharing this story again because I will soon be raising money for Clara’s House and Clara’s Place. Although I already have made a financial donation myself, I know it is not enough.  And on that point It has come to me that if I don’t try to help Clara Kirk a little further in her efforts, who will.

So please find it in your heart, if not to donate at least to read and share her story with your friends.

You just never know who may be in the position to help so many abused, homeless children and women.

Hi friends and family,

I was touched by the stories of Mrs. Clara Kirk and her efforts to help abused and homeless women and children in the Englewood community. She needs more help then I could ever give, but I figure if God put it on my heart to write about her then maybe I can reach those who can help her further!

Please visit Bittersweet.
